I have been meaning to make a quilt for my special ‘third’ grandma for a few years now and finally I have all the fabrics and the design plan I need to make it!
Happy first day of spring, everyone! Yesterday was my last day of school, so now I have two weeks off! I am going to be spending this time sewing a dress for myself so I have something to wear at a wedding next month. 🙂
As you may know, I made a quilt for my grandma back in September as an early Christmas present. This year, I was making a quilt for my other grandma, and two days ago I finally finished it!
The Step Ladder Quilt is my 9th finished quilt. I made this for my grandma and I gave it to her as an early Christmas present on September 27, 2014. My grandma absolutely loves it and she mentions it frequently to me!
This is my 14th quilt that has been finished. This is actually a pretty old UFO that was not started by me. The entire middle section was hand-pieced together and all I had to do was find fabric that matched it, add a border, and finish it off with batting, backing, and quilting.
During those first few months earlier this year, I thought it was just perfect that people were getting rid of their duck fabrics. I kept collecting them from the free table, and soon enough I had plenty to make into a quilt, plus I had a few background duck pieces from my stash. Here’s the quilt!
Here it is! All three layers are joined at the seams. I have four things left to do now until I’m done: 1. Sew the opening closed, 2. safety pin it for quilting, 3. quilt it, and 4. make a label!
I’ve been making great progress on the quilt; in fact, I’m almost done! Here are some close-ups of the panels.
